Sounding Joy received a grant from Office of Youth Services to provide music therapy services to 1) youth ages 10-21 on Oahu, Maui, and West Hawaii, and 2) families on Oahu from July 2017-June 2018.  We are now accepting registrations for this program.

Music Therapy for Life Skills Development

: Youths and young adults ages 10-21 with at-risk behaviors or circumstances, mental health issues, or involved in the juvenile justice system.

: to foster positive self-image, and cultural awareness/respect, social and cognitive competencies, decision-making skills, and increase coping and positive life skills.

Format: Small group music therapy sessions, once a week for a maximum of 6 months, minimum 15 sessions.

Location: Sounding Joy's clinic or on-site at a program or facility that serves eligible youth

Music Therapy for Family Mediation

Eligibility: Families with marital, economical, mental, or disability-related stress, emotional and psychosocial needs, single parent, or individuals in family crisis. At least one family member must be between the ages of 10 and 21.

Goals: To provide families with emotional and psychosocial support, facilitate verbal and non-verbal communication, relaxation, consultations in stress and crisis situations, promote healthy family bond through quality time spent, and abstinence from abusive behaviors.

Format: family unit or individual music therapy session, once a week for a maximum of 4 months, minimum 12 sessions.

Location: Sounding Joy's clinic (home visitation can be discussed)
